The 3-Day Shoot is not far away. Have you submitted your 3-Day application yet?
In case you have already seen the information, we have a new caterer this year – Bad to the Bone. It was recommended by one of the Vile Bunch members and unanimously agreed to after reviewing their menu and prices. We chose to go with the BBQ Chicken and Pulled Pork for meat variety. For our sides, we will have Southern BBQ Beans, Smoked Green Beans w/ Ham Hocks, Cornbread, and either Chocolate Cake or Carrot Cake for dessert. Nawlins and I checked them out and their food is finger lickin’ good! Check out their website for more information: www.bad2thebonebbq.com
If you haven’t already submitted your 3-Day Application, please see the application form online, you will find it under “3 Day Shoot”, “2009″, “3-Day Shoot Application”. Please fill the 3-Day Application form out and send a printout of the emailed confirmation with your check to:

Hope everyone is getting ready for the 3-Day Shoot, the Vile Bunch certainly is!
We will have a 45/70 H&R Single-Shot Rifle for the raffle again this year. You do not need to be present to win and tickets will be $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. The 3-Day Raffles and Auction will continue based upon your generous donations. The raffle items will be setup Saturday morning while we shoot and tickets will be available for purchase at lunchtime on Saturday. We will continue to have 2 different colored tickets at 50 cents and $1 levels. And don’t forget the 50/50 raffle – it is a quick and easy way to donate to the club and maybe share in half the proceeds! Your odds are certainly much better than the Lotto.

On a final note, we are looking into making doors for the Lean-To out at the Range. If that fits into “your line of work” and you have some suggestions, please contact either Capt. Lester Thomas, our Props Hand, or one of the Vile Bunch.
See you out on the range!

Howdy,
We had another great shoot, with no safety violations. Thanks to all for making my job easy.
We are still on a learning curve with the new targets. Thanks to the pards that came early to help setup on Sunday. We can still use some extra hands on the morning of the shoot to help make setup go a little faster.
We are still looking for ratchet donations and 3/4 socket. If you have an old one ratchet sitting around collecting dust, we would gladly accept it. I would like to have one for each stage to help speed up tear down.
See you down the trail!
Nawlins Kid

Howdy Pards!
June turned out to be another great day for a shoot! Only just a little cooling rain for the tear down. We had 33 registered shooters. Not bad for a graduation weekend.
Next, there is something that needs to be addressed. It’s something that we do not like harp on. At our shoots we are COWBOYS! and that means we LOOK like cowboys in our dress and of course, we SHOOT like COWBOYS !!! It is all part of the fun! The concern is that a little more effort could be used to appear in more period dress. This means NO cell phone or key chains hanging from your belt. Cowboys had different things like GUNS & knives & ammunition pouches hanging from their belts! Because mostly, they just had shootin’ on their mind!! Also, cowboys had more FREEDOM from time. So, if you have to wear a wrist watch, keep your sleeves down. And, one other thing, cowboys were just too RUGGED to have manufacturer’s logos on there shirts! . . . . Enough said.
We had the usual crew for set-up. THANKS folks!!! You’e the best!!
The Vile Bunch is usually at shoots on Sundays to complete the set up at 8am. Still, with the hot weather approaching, we are going to have days when we’ll want to put the canopies up at all the stages. Having the canopies up helps to provide some cooling shade for those folks who don’t have gun cart umbrellas. Also, we could use some help to set up the new pistol targets on Sunday mornings. This would help us all to get started on time. We’d sure WELCOME your company and your help on Sunday mornings if we’ve got any other cowpokes who are “early risers” & who can lend a hand.
Looking forward to seeing you on July 26th.
Raunchy Rick – Foreman

Targets:
5 Pistol
3 Shotgun
4 Rifle
Ammo:
6 Shotgun
5 Pistol/10 for two gun
8 Rifle
Props:
Rock prop, Split rail fence, Rifle rack, and Shotgun rack
Staging:
Loaded rifle in rifle rack. Unloaded shotgun in shotgun rack. Shooter standing at left of mat by fence center post, facing downrange.
[column]
Start:
At the sound of the buzzer, shooter says, “Souuu–EEEH!!” and engages the pistol targets 1-2-3-4-5, two gun repeat and holster pistol(s). Swinger MUST move at the start of each gun to be counted as a hit, misses require re-engage until hit.
Shooter then moves to right and engages rifle targets 4-3-2-1-4-3-2-1 then clears rifle and places open rifle back in rifle rack.
Shooter moves to shotgun rack and engages shotgun targets 3-2-1-3-2-1 and repeat for a total of SIX rounds. Pump or lever gunners may load as many as the shotgun will safely hold. Single round loading is OK. Misses CAN be made up using extra shells- if so misses are reduced one per each subsequent hit. Swingers must move to be scored a hit, or be re-engaged until hit.
Scoring: Time plus misses / penalties.
[/column]
While tending to your herd of pigs you notice that a few feral hogs have somehow wandered into your fenced in pasture. This means many bad things are happening: gaps may have formed in your fences, the wild hogs may bring disease, and worst of all they will start using up your food resources while your own domesticated stock goes hungry. Rather than let them thin out your herd, you better thin them out instead. If not you will have to persevere a pusillanimous but plentiful population of porcine pollution.

Targets – 10 total set as:
2 long range rifle caliber (longest range)
2 rifle caliber repeater
2 pistol caliber
Gallery .22 (if weather permits)
4 pistol
Ammo:
10 Rifle – Caliber(s) of shooters’ choice
5 for pistol
Props: Chair, two rifle racks, shooting sticks, shooting mat if desired.
Staging: Shooter seated in chair, standing, prone or other safe position. Loaded rifle in shooter’s hands, in port arms position, prone position, or other position of choice when shooting begins.
POSSE MEMBERS: you will keep your same work assignments on this stage!
POSSE LEADERS: Keep the action moving- run this stage like any other. Try to accommodate two shooters at once on different banks of targets.
[column]
PLEASE NOTE that there is a SEPARATE scoring sheet for this stage! Do NOT put scores for Long Range on the regular sheets.
Start: At the sound of the buzzer, shooter will engage targets for the caliber chosen in any sequence as long as the targets are not double-tapped (i.e. targets must be shot one then another, not repeatedly for two or more consecutive shots).
Scoring: Counters count Hits only. Hits are the primary scoring method, with time as the tiebreaker. For this stage, the shooter must announce his/her caliber choice to the scorer before the stage begins. .22 rifle shooters are scored in repeating or single shot rifle OPEN category, depending on action type.
IF time allows, shooters may shot a second gun of a different caliber, but must wait until all shooters have completed their first gun.
***THIS STAGE IS OPTIONAL!***

(optional) Shooter then moves to left and engages derringer / PP target with up to 4 rounds, with a 5 second bonus per hit, and place derringer / PP back on table with muzzle downrange. If shooter has no derringer, proceed to rifle (below).

Your old friend Horance Hangerfield’s opened a fine dry goods store here in Washout Gulch and you’re in town so you stop by to see how business is, and to give congratulations. You know that he saved for years to make this happen. As you chit-chat you see a handful of ne’er-do-wells come in the door and start casing the place, and before you know it they draw their guns and demand Horace’s cashbox, and the combination to Horace’s safe. Ever since the Vulture Gold Mine was opened in Arizona in 1863 by Henry Wickenburg the place was frequently beset by bands of thieves referred to as Highgraders, due to the quality of the ore they stole. In all it’s estimated that up to 50% of the mine’s $200 million worth of production was stolen before it was closed in 1942, and eighteen men were hung from Vulture City’s hanging tree, nearly all for highgrading. Today your job is to keep the mine clear of robbers, and your job is about to become harder- here they come!
