Well, another shooting season is over. The pumpkin shoot was popular, as it always is.

The winners of the turkey shoot were Preskit Compadre, Jumping Jack Flash and Rick O’Shay. Nice going guys!!

The Sept. Shoot turned out to be a little on the warm side but it was dry.  We had 25 shooters. We got to use our new 16” diameter rifle targets & 3 legged stands.  There was no problem hearing target hits because they do ring quite well!  The only reason they were black instead of white is because we had so few for set up that we ran out of time to paint them.  They will be painted white for October.

Even with the new rifle targets and the pistol targets set between 7 to 10 yards out,  we only had one clean shooter.  Congratulations BUM THUMB!!!

One topic we haven’t discussed recently is our Cowboy dress code.  We need to dress more period correct or B Western style.  Enough said.

Don’t forget for our upcoming October Shoot it’ll be a dish to pass meal and you’ll need to bring a pumpkin to throw. There will also be a “Turkey Shoot” with prizes. Can’t believe this will be our last shoot for this season.

Well here we are – another 3-Day shoot is over.  I would like to THANK all the folks for their help at the Thursday set-up.  We had plenty of workers for a change, though it still took a long time – over 6 hours!

Turn out for the shoot was good. We had 45 shooters. Weather was either hot or cool and very windy.

There was a lot of lead flying for two days and a lot of targets getting hit!! The most hits were shot by Jumping Jack Flash and William Clemnos! They never missed a target for the eight stages. Good going guys!!! Don’t make them mad!

Our Match winners are:

Saturday there was a meeting to define the club’s position on target distances. There was plenty of discussion by all present. The bottom line is: pistols targets will be between 7 to 10 yards and rifle targets will be between 17 to 30 yards. This does not mean the targets will be in a straight line. Targets could be staggered within these ranges.

Look forward to seeing everyone again come the 25th.

Not a bad turn out for a very hot day, we had 27 shooters. Always bring your pocket pistol or derringer to all shoots, even if it is not stated in match set-up.

The bright sun must have put some glare on the front sights, since we only had 2 clean shooters. Congrats go to Mathew Quigley and Tombstone!

We had a nice turn out for the June shoot with 32 shooters.  That is the best attendance yet this season.  We had good support for set-up.  Thanks to all for being there.

There were no complaints, but I heard one cowpoke say it the long range was challenging.  Still, he scored 10 hits.  And wasn’t it nice to shoot out in the open for a change?

Well it was another shoot from the pavilion, but not because it was raining. It seems that only one person at Shortsville takes up the job of mowing the grass in our area of play. Unfortunately, he was sick for up to three weeks before the shoot and had not been able to get the mowing equipment ready in time.

The help with set-up was better this time with 12 workers. We had 28 shooters on Sunday, which was also an improvement.

Match results for top shooters in each class are as follows: DD= Nawlins Kid, 1D = Heavy Bear, GF= Wild Will, 2D=Shotgun Ron, 2GS= Rev. Dave Clayton, 1T= Heavy Bear  There was only one clean shooter, Heavy Bear.  He is consistent.

Long Range results are: Speed Shot Gun= Nawlins Kid,   Single Shot Rifle= Rev. Dave Clayton,   Repeating Rifle Pistol Cal.= Shotgun Ron,  Repeating Rifle Rifle Cal. = Uncle Rog, 22 Cal Rifle=  William Clemnos,  Speed Pistol= Shotgun Ron.

For the June Shoot we are going to try something new, the repeating rifle rifle cal. will be shot at the same distance as the single shot rifle, hopefully at 120/125 yards. We will also put a third target out for long range in case one of the two normal ones used falls down.

Hopefully in June we will have short, dry grass and a full set-up of 5 stages.

We had a pretty good turn out for the May 1, shoot – 26 gun slingers. How did you like shooting closer to the pavilion, with a lot less walking? If it had been drier, we would have set-up even closer to the pavilion. Long range was a true long range at 98 yards.

Some of the folks must have been practicing their shooting skills! We had 4 clean match shooters: Jumping Jack Flash, Wade Cooper, Wild Will and Heavy Bear (1 pistol). Nice going Pards!

The dish to pass meal was great, more than enough and real tasty. Thanks to all you chuckwagon cooks.

Well here we are approaching another shooting season, I know we all spent time this past winter cleaning and lubricating our shooting irons, and loading ammo. How about them cowboy duds, all washed and ironed?

As usual the first shoot of the season will be a dish to pass, which means we will shoot three stages and long range. The set-up may be a little different than we’re use to, of course wet weather may be a controlling factor.

It sure would be helpful for a little more help on Sat. for set-up. Just a reminder, the fourth Sun. of April is Easter Sunday so we have moved the shoot out to May first. See you soon.

Well, another shooting season is over. Now it’s time to clean guns and reload ammo.

The pumpkin shoot seems to be very popular, so maybe next year we can expand it a little more.

Well, it was decided by a vote at the September shoot, that you folks want to do more shooting from under the pavilion!! So, that is what we are going to be doing.

I talked to Bill Chrysler from Shortsville and he will have the tractor OUT of the pavilion for our shoots. We will also move the benches OUT from under the pavilion to give us more room. Ideas to make fake walls and stage props at the side of the pavillion for us to shoot from are being discussed too. Your ideas are welcome!!!

The October shoot will be our last shoot for the season, so be sure to REMEMBER to bring a PUMPKIN to throw and a DISH TO PASS.  We’ll be having our “ANNUAL TURKEY SHOOT” too!!! So, come prepared for a real good time!!
