Intro for 1 – Mad Miners Meddling!

It’s 1876 and you are riding your newly-staked claim, thinking about the work ahead in making your living. Panning in the stream makes for long, tiring days and even the smallest flakes of gold can build your accumulating wealth. However, your new neighbors aren’t keen on you setting up shop, since they claim this land is theirs! You have a valid deed in your saddlebag and you’re in the right, but they want you gone from here, permanently. Here they come!

Stage 1 – Prospectors

Shooter moves right to shotgun rack and retrieves shotgun, loads and shoots 1-2-3-1-2-3.  pump gunners may load as many as desired, single load is OK.  Misses CAN be made up using extra shells- if so misses are reduced one per each subsequent hit but the target must be re-engaged IMMEDIATELY AFTER it is missed.  Swinger must move to be scored a hit or be re-engaged until hit.  Last shot stops the clock.

Scoring: Time plus misses.

Intro for 2 – Voters Vexed!

It’s the first Tuesday in November, 1880, and it’s time to leave the bar and make your choice. Will it be Ohio’s James Garfield, sounding a call for relaxation of Southern Reconstruction efforts, or Pennsylvania’s Wilfred Hancock who supports lowering tariffs? It’s your right to choose, but a few drunken fools don’t see it that way. You fold your hand of poker and head for the doors, when they confront you about your intentions. Get to the town hall before they close- and if you have to shoot, make sure it’s at least 100 feet from the polling site.

Stage 2 – Make It Count

Scoring: Time plus misses less bonuses.

Intro for 3 – Stage Stash Stolen!

It’s 1882 and you’ve stopped at your uncle’s farm to bury the loot from your daring robbery of the Wells Fargo stage out of Butte, Montana yesterday. Long Range – Hapless Herd

While rounding up the herd you notice that one of your young-uns hurt its leg and is limping at the back of the herd. Suddenly a pack of coyotes springs up and tries to thin the herd, starting with your calf. Shoot carefully and save him!

POSSE MEMBERS: you will keep your same work assignments on this stage!

POSSE LEADERS: Keep the action moving- run this stage like any other. Try to accommodate two shooters at once, shooting different banks of targets. Position shooters so brass falls on mat.

PLEASE NOTE that there is a SEPARATE scoring sheet for this stage! Do NOT put scores for Long Range on the regular sheets.

Start: At the sound of the buzzer, shooter will engage targets for the caliber chosen in any sequence as long as the targets are not double-tapped (i.e. targets must be shot one then another, not repeatedly for two or more consecutive shots).

Scoring: Time is not the primary scoring method, hits are. For this stage, the shooter must announce his/her caliber choice to the scorer before the stage begins. .22 rifle shooters are scored in repeating or single shot rifle OPEN category, depending on action type. Shotgun Stampede is also scored separately.

Counters count Hits only, last shot stops the clock. Time breaks ties in number of hits only.

IF time allows, shooters may shot a second gun of a different caliber, but must wait until all shooters have completed their first gun.

***THIS STAGE IS OPTIONAL!***

How does a horse rancher lose more than half of his herd in less than a month? Might it be the hole in the fence? Or is someone helping themselves to your pride and joy?
