MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH
You enjoyed your trip to see your buddy, Wild Will, out west last month. Now, you’ve settled in back at the ranch in Shortsville ready to tackle the work that has awaited. Garden’s planted, fences are mended, cattle are rounded up, and the horses are corralled, ready to be sold. Sure, there’s still work to be done, but for the next few minutes, you can rest easy.

They are gone before you get a chance to batten down the barn, and so are your horses, but not before you blast a bunch of bullets in their direction. As you round the corner to O’Shay’s Shack, you see your friend, the Nawlin’s Kid, in what looks like a heated conversation. Sure enough, there are a number of nervy no-counts needlin’ Nawlin’s. One of the no-counts appears to be dressed as a reverend, with a turned around collar and all, but he ain’t no Reverend Dave. Nawlin’s is pressed so tight to the building that he’s almost like one of the bricks in the wall. Things head south fast when you see the preacher imposter reaching for his sidearm.

Scenario
You see the sheriff heading your way and figure you got some explaining to do after shooting up the bunch of deadbeats badgering Nawiln’s. But, naw. He’s looking to tell you that the bunch of banditos that busted the broncos outta your barn are bottled up in Bum Thumb’s Backyard Beer and Barbecue franchise down on Bean Street. So, off you go.
Sure enough, they are there; celebrating. You find Bum Thumb, and he tells you how sorry he is, and he didn’t know, and that the men were trading horses for the beer and food they were consuming.

A few moments later, a couple of rowdy ranch wranglers wrestle their way between you and the little lady, using language that would make even your cattle wince. You politely try to make them aware of their impropriety, but instead of correcting their crass conversation, they make like they’re going to go for their guns.

POSSE MEMBERS: you will keep your same work assignments on this stage!
POSSE LEADERS: Keep the action moving- run this stage like any other. Try to accommodate two shooters at once, shooting different banks of targets. Position shooters so brass falls on mat.
PLEASE NOTE that there is a SEPARATE scoring sheet for this stage! Do NOT put scores for Long Range on the regular sheets. Time is not the primary scoring method, hits are. For this stage, the shooter must announce his/her caliber choice to the scorer before the stage begins. .22 rifle shooters are scored in repeating or single shot rifle OPEN category, depending on action type. Shotgun Stampede is also scored separately.
Counters count Hits only, last shot stops the clock. Time breaks ties in number of hits only.
If time allows, shooters may shoot a second gun of a different caliber, but after all shooters have completed their first gun.
